Draft for our testing phase. We'll review it before launch.
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-29
The short version
- We collect what Nomweek needs to plan your meals and keep your records: your email, the name you give us, your household preferences, and what you add in the app.
- Some of it is sent to an AI service (Anthropic's Claude) so the assistant can answer you and read your receipts.
- We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from Me → Account.
Who we are
Nomweek (饭周到) is run by a sole proprietor in British Columbia, Canada. In this policy, "we" and "us" means the person running Nomweek. We are responsible for the personal information you give us.
What we collect
Your account:
- Your email address, and the name you'd like us to call you.
- If you sign in with Google, the basic profile Google shares with us (your name and email). If you sign in with an email code, just your email.
Your household preferences, as you set them in Me → Preferences:
- How many people eat at home and whether there are kids.
- Your goals (for example eating healthier or saving money) and any note you write about your family.
- Cuisines you like, dietary restrictions and allergies.
- How many breakfasts, lunches and dinners you cook each week.
- Your city, the stores you shop at, which store cards you have, and your shopping day.
What you do in the app:
- Your menus, shopping lists, cooked meals and recipe ratings.
- Receipt photos you upload, and the lines we read from them.
- Spending you record.
- Your conversations with the assistant.
- Answers you give in our feedback survey.
Technical records:
- For each AI request we keep a usage record: which feature, which model, how much text was processed and what it cost us. This helps us keep the free service affordable.
- Our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and time of request) for security and troubleshooting.
Allergies and dietary restrictions can be sensitive. We only use them to keep unsuitable dishes off your menu.
How we use it
- To run Nomweek for you: suggest dishes, build your shopping list, show deals at your stores, read receipts and show your weekly summary.
- To keep your account secure and stop abuse.
- To fix problems and improve the app, including reading feedback you send.
- To email you sign-in codes and important notices about your account.
We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.
AI features
The assistant, receipt reading and the short reasons next to suggested dishes use Claude, an AI model from Anthropic. When you use them, we send Anthropic what the task needs: your message and recent conversation, a summary of your household preferences, your menu, or the receipt photo.
Under Anthropic's commercial terms, what we send through its API isn't used to train its models. AI answers can be wrong. See our Terms of Service for more on that.
Who helps us run Nomweek
We use a few service providers. They handle your data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: our database, sign-in system and file storage (including receipt photos).
- Anthropic: the AI model behind the assistant and receipt reading.
- Vercel: hosts the website.
- An email delivery provider: sends your sign-in codes.
- Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google.
We may also share information if the law requires it, for example a valid court order.
Where your data is stored
Our providers may store and process your data outside Canada, for example in the United States. While it is there, it may be subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access by its authorities.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your account and everything in it, including receipt photos, right away. Copies in our providers' backups may last a short time longer before they are overwritten.
Feedback survey answers and AI usage records may be kept without your name to help us understand how the app is used.
Cookies and your browser
We use cookies to keep you signed in and remember your language. The app also saves a few settings in your browser, such as your view choices, the shopping list you're still making and which chat you had open. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Your rights
Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA, and BC's Personal Information Protection Act) gives you these rights:
- Access: ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy.
- Correction: fix anything that's wrong. You can change most things yourself in Me.
- Deletion: delete your account in Me → Account, or ask us to do it.
- Withdraw consent: stop using a feature, or delete your account.
- Complain: if you're not happy with how we handled your request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
To make a request, email hello@nomweek.com. We'll reply within 30 days.
Children
Nomweek is made for adults who plan meals for a household. Please don't create an account if you're under 19. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is important, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
